Obituary of Darrell Wayne Lester

Darrell Wayne Lester, age 84, of Stanchfield, MN. Passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

            He was born on August 17, 1934 to Lorenzo and Dorothy (Belden) Lester.  Darrell attended Stake School and then Cambridge High School. He worked as a seaman on the ore boats in Duluth/Superior before making his career as an over the road truck driver traveling in that time to all 48 lower states.

            Darrell worked for several trucking companies before owning his own semi-truck and becoming an independent owner/operator as Lester Trucking.

            Darrell married Lois Surdey on January 31, 1954 and they had 4 children.  He loved his job as a truck driver seeing the country, but loved his family and friends more.

            He enjoyed hunting and fishing and tinkering in his garage.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Dorothy Lester; grandson Brian Lester and his best friends from childhood Rene Sutherland, Carl Larson and Dick Olson.  He is survived by his wife Lois; son Bruce (Joanne) Lester; daughters Sherri (David) Luckow, Susan (Max) Centeno and Jeanne (Sheldon) Olson; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

            A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on May 18, 2019 from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Grandy Community Center 2749 Co. Rd 6 NE, Stanchfield, MN 55029
