Obituary of Dorothy Mae Caldwell-Luchette
Dorothy Kepner Caldwell Luchette went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2019 at the age of 98.
She was born on May 22, 1921 at her home in Hartford, Ohio the daughter of Camillus and Elizabeth (Taylor) Kepner.
She was a graduate of Hartford High School and the Warren Business School. She worked at the Treasurer’s office of Trumbull County and at the Petrini Insurance Agency prior to opening the Caldwell Insurance Agency, which she owned and operated for thirty years.
In 1940 she married her high school sweetheart, Richard B. Caldwell (Dick), and they had two children: Thomas and Patricia. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1989. She later married Dr. Albert A. Luchette and they enjoyed years traveling and with family and friends. With the exception of Dick’s time in WWII, she lived on the family farm her entire life, where their home was known as a welcoming place to all. She moved to be with her daughter in Minnesota in 2013, where she continued to be recognized for her many volunteer hours.
Dorothy was a member of the Trumbull County Independent Insurance Agents and one of the first women agents in Ohio. She was also a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church, the Harford Community Church, and the Hartford Historical Society. She served as president of the WSCS, taught Sunday School, and was the first woman trustee in Hartford Township.
She leaves behind her son, Thomas (Carole) Caldwell, her daughter Patti (Craig) Paulson, five grandsons: Ryan (Dottie) Caldwell, Reed Caldwell, Douglas (Cynthia) Paulson, Nels (Margaret) Paulson, Peter (Kristi) Paulson, twelve great grandchildren, three nieces and four nephews.
In addition to both husbands, her sister, Camilla Kepner Carlile, and her brothers, Roy Kepner and Reed Kepner, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at Galloway Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 St. Rt. 7, Hartford, Ohio on Friday, June 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and her funeral will be at the Hartford Community Church, 3312 St. Rt. 7, Hartford, on Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Hartford Township Cemetery.
