Obituary of Sena Linden
Sena H. Linden of Cambridge died on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital at the age of 81.
She was born December 29, 1929 to John and Anna Opsahl in Pipestone, MN. The family moved to Bodum during her teenage years where she met her best friend and soul-mate Norman. Sena and Norman were married October 21, 1950. They raised their three children, Bruce, Barb and Brian, in Cambridge. Sena and Norman enjoyed spending time with their family and friends at their cabin on Knife Lake. They always looked forward to their fishing trips with their friends, bowling and golfing together as a couple, and she spent many fun days watching Norman play softball.
After graduating from Cambridge High School she worked for Peoples Bank and then went to work at Parker and Satrom law firm. With the loss of her husband Norman in 1975, she went back to work at Peoples Bank of Commerce as an Installment Loan Officer/Branch Manager while she single-handedly put her two younger children through college. She retired from Peoples Bank of Commerce in 2001.
Family and friends say she was the smartest woman they ever knew and extremely quick witted. Everyone always said she needed to be on Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. She could do any crossword puzzle in ink and could answer any question you asked. She was an active lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She continued bowling, golfing, cribbage, and curling. She had many laughs and stories to tell of her poker parties with her "poker girls".
Her biggest enjoyment in life came from spending time with her family and watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She loved the holidays because it was when her grown children and their families all got together under one roof again. She liked spending time with her sister Mary and recounting stories of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman; son Brian; parents John and Anna Opsahl; brothers Daniel, Frankie, Martin, Calvin; and sisters Alma, Florence, Mildred, Shirley.
Sena is survived by her children, Bruce (Kathy) Linden of Princeton; and Barb (Jim) Dodd of Cambridge; Daughter-in-law, Dana (Steve) Hendren of Stanchfield; sister, Mary Hanson of Cambridge; grandchildren, Jeremy (Tracie) Linden of Princeton; Melissa (Chad) Manthei of Zimmerman; Alexandra (Jordan) Anderson of Cambridge; Samantha and Kenzie Dodd of Cambridge; great-grandchildren, Erika, Nolan and Addison Linden; Isabel Manthei; nephew, Robert (Nancy) Hansen of North Branch and many friends.
