Obituary of Budd Peterson
Budd B. Peterson, age 98, a lifelong resident of Cambridge, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Haven House of Cambridge.
He was born on July 8, 1914 to August and Tillie (Miller) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Budd grew up in Cambridge where he attended grade school and high school.
Budd met Ruth Swanson at the Arlington Hotel where Ruth was a waitress. They were united in marriage on October 7, 1939 at the Cambridge Lutheran Church Parsonage. They made their home in Cambridge where they raised their family. Budd was a wonderful father. He always had time, no matter how tired he was, to get down on the floor and play with his children.
Budd worked at the Woolen Mills, Farmer's Wholesale, Tunell Hatchery and Northern Pump. He began working for Nelson Plumbing and Heating and in 1952, Budd started Peterson Plumbing and Heating; then retired in 1978 and remained in Cambridge. Budd and Ruth enjoyed travel overseas and in the US and spent winters in Apache Junction, AZ.
Budd was an active lifetime member of Cambridge Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for six years and was active in ushering. He also was a volunteer fireman for the Cambridge Fire Department for over 20 years.
In his younger days he enjoyed playing softball. Budd also had a passion for the great outdoors; especially fishing, hunting, golfing, tennis, and swimming.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ruth; Budd's brothers, Burton, Mylow, Carl, Donald Peterson, and half -brother Aldean Sandstrom, grandson, Darin Peterson; son-in-law, David Skogman
Budd is survived by his daughter Donna Zaier and son-in-law Jerry of CA: Daughter Judy Skogman of IA; son Dale of Crystal. Grandchildren: Shelly (Zaier) Barrett and husband Aaron, Shane Zaier and wife Krissy, Wade Skogman and wife Stefani, Chad Skogman, Shawn Skogman and wife Tara Skogman, Dorie (Peterson) Drown and husband Brian. Great grandchildren: Alec and Zoe Barrett, Calahan, Clayton, Aidan, Oskar, Annika, Klara and Aksel Skogman, Alexander and Isabella Drown, several loving nieces, nephews and special friend Eunice Hupfer.
