Obituary of Doris Kronholm
Doris Hoglund Kronholm, 87, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, December 06, 2007 at her home at River Hills.
Doris Lorraine Lind Hoglund Kronholm was born on May 14, 1920, the first girl born after four brothers. She was born in Superior, Wisconsin and lived most of her life in Duluth, Minnesota.
In 1940 she married Eric Hoglund and they had three children; Marlys Wood, (Robert), Eric Hoglund (Nancy), Barbara Iwarsson (Bjorn), five grandchildren; Kurt Wood, Kimberly Barth, Brett Hoglund, Henni Iwarsson, Katri Hanson and 6 great grandchildren, Rachael, Megan, Aaron, Bronson, Josie and Eliah.
Doris and Eric became members of the Ebenezer Baptist church in Duluth where they committed their lives to Christ and were baptized. It was there that the couple became friends with Oliver and Dorothy Kronholm. Little did they know that, years later, after the death of both spouses, Doris and Oliver would find companionship and love in their later years. They were married in 1984. That marriage added four more daughters to her family; Lou Walters (Paul), Carol Bell (Bill), Joyce Eicher (Dave) and Lois Weeks (James).
Doris was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and did amazing hand work. Her embroidered dish towels were the sought after gift at birthdays, wedding showers and Christmas. Doris loved to read her Bible. She was a discussion leader for Community Bible study in Duluth for many years. Although Doris had two successful marriages, a loving family and good health, she once told a granddaughter that her greatest accomplishment was her relationship with the Lord, which grew stronger each year.
She will be remembered for her ability to be a compassionate friend to those who were ill or needing encouragement. She was a natural at hospitality, loved setting a pretty table for her guests and especially enjoyed a cup of good hot coffee. Her children cherish memories of coming home from school to the smell of home made bread, and other baked goodies and a chance to share their day with a mom eager to listen. Her unconditional love for her family is a legacy that will always be remembered and cherished.
