Obituary of Allen Anderson
Allen Carl Anderson, 60, of Rush City and Park Rapids passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at his home in Rush City.
He was born on December 11, 1946 in Duluth, Minnesota to Emil "Andy" and Elaine Anderson. Al grew up in Duluth and graduated from high school there. In July 1965 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Allen served in the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart for wounds he received on December 20, 1966. He was honorably discharged from active duty in July 1968. The time Al spent in Vietnam and what he experienced there would forever change his life and who he was.
Al lived in many areas of the United States, spending winters in Biloxi, Mississippi, Florida and Las Vegas. He spent summers in his R.V. parked at his family and friends homes. We all enjoyed times spent together golfing, watching war movies, cooking on the grill and having good times. He recently moved to a home in Rush City to be near family and was looking forward to spending Christmas with his family.
He enjoyed playing and watching golf, and enjoyed taking his grandchildren golfing. He liked to go to the casino. Al had many friends, some from his military days and many other friends he made throughout his travels in the U.S.
He was preceded in death by his mother. Al is survived by his father Emil "Andy" Anderson of Park Rapids, brother Steve Anderson of Duluth, his daughter Sheila and husband Rick Nelson of Cambridge, son Brian and wife Leslie Anderson of Maple Grove, seven grandchildren Alex, Mavrick, Tori and Brody Nelson, Andrew, Piper and Reid Anderson and many other relatives and friends.
