Kim Michael Johnson, 53, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at his home. Kim was born in Glenwood, Minnesota on July 6, 1954, the second child of Donald and MaryAnn Johnson. He and his family moved to St. Cloud when he was two years old where he lived with his mom, dad and two brothers, Donald and Mark. After graduation from high school, Kim moved to Cambridge where he was employed at the Cambridge State Hospital….where many life long friendships were made and established. The Thursday Night Club, which was started by Kim and "guy" co-workers convened at various establishments of libation, and Kim was dubbed "the Grand Marshall of the Thursday Night Club." He was also a co-originator of the annual Halloween Bon Fires, which was a tradition that continued for more than twenty years; where tales were told and strange edibles consumed with a chaser of grog. Friends will remember pickled eggs, Chivas Regal, Halloween bon fires, meat-on-a stick, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, The Pogues, Dylan, Blue Velvet, West Park, The Heartland Express, Manhattan, The Pay Phone Incident….. Kim will be remembered as a lover of people, big hearted, loyal, secretive, interesting, generous, compassionate, kind, funny, a great story teller, a wonderful friend, a much loved and needed father figure, a loving son, brother, uncle. A true gentle giant. He is survived by his father Donald E. Johnson, brother Mark and wife Joan Johnson of Champlin, nephew Daniel Johnson, niece Jennifer and husband Gary Anderson, great niece Lily, as well as other relatives and friends.
