Obituary of Ivy Erickson
Ivy Maureen Erickson, 73, of Ham Lake passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Grandview Christian Home.
She was born on March 18, 1934 in Peterborough, England to Francis and Annie (Hayes) Fixter. She grew up in England and attended school near Peterborough.
On October 22, 1955 she was united in marriage to Earl Erickson, whom she met while he was stationed in England serving in the Air Force. They made their home in England and their first child Wayne was born there. In June of 1957 the family moved to Sturgeon Lake, MN where Earl farmed for a short time. He would later get a job in Duluth so they eventually made their home in Duluth. Their second child Linda was born in Duluth. The family lived in Duluth for 16 years before moving to Ham Lake in 1973 and has lived there since then.
Ivy worked at the Ham Lake VFW for 11 years and retired from there. She enjoyed bowling and bowled on leagues for many years. She was the city secretary for the Women's Bowling Association in Duluth. Ivy also enjoyed knitting, doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo and pull tabs, going to the casinos and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack, Ray and Dick Fixter, sister Ruth Woods and granddaughter Amanda Erickson.
Ivy is survived by her husband Earl of Ham Lake, son Wayne and wife Karen Erickson of Ham Lake, daughter Linda and husband Larry Ashton of Ham Lake, seven grandchildren Alison Erickson, Andrew Ashton, Travis Erickson, Mark Sandberg, Nicole Sandberg, Heather Ashton, and Brittni Ashton, two great grandchildren, twins Raegan and Taryn Hurkman, sister Joyce Hotchkin of England, as well as other relatives and friends.
