Obituary of Sheldon Larson

Sheldon Lee Larson, 71, of Braham died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his home. He was born April 18, 1940 in Braham, Minnesota to Levi and Carol (Conger) Larson. Sheldon attended country school near Braham and graduated from Braham High School in 1958. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota to study agriculture and other trades. On July 25, 1963 he was united in marriage to Mary Jo "Dody" Rathjens at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born Brad, Mark, Scott and Deb. They lived a short time in Cambridge before moving to Fridley. After two years in Fridley they moved to Stanchfield where they resided while building their home in Maple Ridge. It was in that home that they would raise their children. Sheldon worked construction for many years, building homes throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. He was forced to retire in the early 1990's due to health reasons. His wife Dody passed away and later Sheldon met Pat Sylvester. The couple was married on June 19, 1985 in Cambridge. With this marriage Pat added two daughters. Sheldon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. He would sell his fur pelts to pay for the Christmas presents he would buy for his family. He loved working in his cabinet shop, working in his garden and was famous for his wonderful dill pickles. An annual event was to go blueberry picking. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his animals, especially caring for his last three dogs all named Molly. He was a past member of the Braham Sportsman's Club and participated in trap shooting and bowled on several leagues. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dody, and sister Marlys Ferrier.
