Obituary of Frank Weisbrod
Frank G. Weisbrod, 92, Cambridge, died Monday, Dec 5th 2011 after a courageous 11 month battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Frank George Weisbrod was born on March 22nd 1919 in Princeton to George & Caroline Weisbrod. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1937. After high school Frank joined the National Guard which was later federalized and turned into the 634th Tank Destroyer Battalion. The unit trained at Camp Claiborne, LA, Camp Hood, TX and England before seeing action in France, Belgium, Germany and Czechoslovakia in World War II. After the war Frank moved to Cambridge and started Weisbrod's Bakery. A second bakery soon followed in Princeton as did a bakery and restaurant equipment business.
Frank was wed to Shirley (nee Lind) on Sept 3, 1960 and three children soon followed. Frank became a county commissioner after selling the bakeries and later became a township supervisor. Besides politics Frank was also active in many clubs such as the VFW, Ducks Unlimited, the Chamber of Commerce and was a past commander of both the Princeton and Cambridge American Legions. He served as a firefighter and was even in a posse when some thieves came to Cambridge (he was very grateful he only killed a tractor). In his down time he enjoyed selling at flea markets and threshing shows meeting many wonderful customers and fellow vendors. He was affectionately known as The Pan Man. In his later years he enjoyed reading about WWII, shaking dice and playing poker, watching sports and spending time with friends and family at Spectacle Lake.
Frank is survived by his children Lind (Duke), Margaret (Cheech) and George all of Cambridge; Sister Virginia & husband Bill Steuber of Cross Lake; and sister-in-laws Bernice Lind and Janet & husband Carl Beaupre both of Cambridge.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley; Brothers Charles, Louis & Robert; and Sister Lucille Oliver.
