My daughter Alena and I have only known Liz for about 10 years. We used to call Bingo at the Caley House when she lived there. We would try to get her to come out and play on Friday nights, but she said she hated games and would rather take a hard test! She was such a joy to talk to, and she would always make sure we had signed her guest book. We loved to hear her stories of Congo, and Alena remembers being amazed when Liz spoke Lingala to us saying, "I would love to go back, but I know I just can't." A couple times she got out her Omnichord and played as we sang hymns together. It was the first time Alena had heard The Old Rugged Cross. When she moved to the Elim Home, another of the residents mentioned that she was a very sweet lady. She was always so content, peaceful, and joyful in the small things. And she had a great sense of humor! She could make us laugh by telling us how "complique" our lives were when we would tell her what we had been doing. Alena will always remember her wide-eyed look of surprise and her WINK. One day she was pressing Alena's hand to her cheek and wouldn't let her go. We know that we will see her again, though, and we look forward to more visits with her in heaven.

Hi, my name is Mary Elizabeth, Beth for short. I am Axel and June Pearson's youngest daughter and I was named after Elizabeth Anderson, who was my Dad's cousin. What a name sake to live up to. She was a wonderful Christian missionary to the people in Congo. I'm sure there is rejoicing in heaven and a great reunion with her family and friends that have gone on before her. My condolences to her loved ones missing her today. I know you will miss her even as you celebrate her life. No more pain --only His peace and endless rejoicing with the saints! In January of 1975 my wife Donna and I were brand new EFCA missionaries in Zaire, now called the Democratic Republic of Congo. We were extremely blessed to have Elizabeth Anderson assigned to us to be our mentor. "Liz" shared about Congolese customs and culture with us. She assigned us an African tutor to work with on the Lingala language. She met with us every couple of weeks to check on us, even though she lived some distance from us. We learned so much from observing her and her team-mate, Leeta Thorton. They were experienced missionaries who were greatly loved by the African people. We were abundantly blessed to have them guide us in those early days, and it was a privilege to serve in the Free Church Mission with them until they both retired in the 80s.
