Obituary of Helen Palm

Helen Theodora Palm was born April 22, 1926, at Asbury hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Theodore and Hilda (Wredberg) Palm. At 10 days old she and Mother joined Daddy on the farm in Stanford Township, Isanti, Minnesota. There she was nurtured with loving care by parents and grandparents Palm. She attended rural School District 62 in Stanford Township graduating from eighth grade May 30, 1940. The following four years in education took place at St. Francis Public School graduating June 1, 1944. Helen came to know Christ as her own personal Savior as an early teenager. She was baptized in Norris Lake by Pastor John Steffenson, July 2, 1939, and came into the fellowship of First Baptist Church, St. Francis, along with her parents Ted and Hilda. This followed tent revival meetings with the then radio pastor Rev. R.G. Blank and the Mississippi Gospel Four quartet. She served as Sunday school secretary and Sunday school teacher, and did secretarial work for Pastor Wesley J. Walker from 1945 -1950. Helen moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota, in 1955, where she was active as Sunday school teacher and in music in the Norbeck Baptist Church, where Rev. John Steffenson was pastor until 1970. There were 60 miles between Aberdeen and Norbeck, so she transferred her membership to Melgaard Park Baptist Church, where she again served as Sunday school teacher and in music. In October 1955 she was employed as a secretary to the plant manager of the Dakota-North Plains Corporation in Aberdeen, working there over 30 years. She thoroughly enjoyed the printing profession. May 30, 1988, Helen's nephew Lyle and wife Nancy, along with brother Carl and wife Eunice moved her and her earthly possessions by Ryder truck to: 1421 Yale Place, Minneapolis, Minnesota. June 6 of that year she was offered a position in Development Ministries at Billy Graham Evangelistic Association where she worked seven years, then transferred into the production department for 3 1/2 years before retiring December 31, 1998. This was certainly a highlight of her career to work in a Christian Association with so many great Christian people. Did she ever shake hands with Billy Graham? Yes!, many times. Helen enjoyed retirement to the full; however in March 2000 ill health came. She experienced several spinal fusion surgeries. The Lord took her Home to dwell with Him. Romans 8:28 and Psalm 91 are but two of her favorite passages of Scripture, though there are many more promises she claimed. Living in Minneapolis made traveling to her home Church in St. Francis difficult at times, but she faithfully upheld the pastors and people in prayer. In April of 2009 she moved to Ashland Place in Cambridge where she did as well as she could with the health conditions she had. Helen never married, but had the most wonderful family in her brother's children. She is survived by her sister in law Eunice; nephew Lyle and his wife Nancy; and their children: Breanna, Brennen, Josiah and Marcale; nephew Lyndon and his wife Lynelda and their children Tyler (Jennie), Trent (Cynthia) and Trevor; great great niece Hannah. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and her brother Carl. Now if you have given your heart to Jesus, She will see you in our Heavenly Home.
