Obituary of Marjorie Chilman

A. Marjorie Chilman, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming. Alice Marjorie (Meyer) Chilman was born on November 29, 1925 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Melvin and Viola (Olson) Meyer. She grew up in the Cambridge area, attending country school and graduating from Cambridge High School in 1943. In February 1945 she was united in marriage to Virgil Chilman in Seattle, Washington. The couple lived in Seattle for about a year before returning to Cambridge where they were for a short time. They would raise their four children in the Minneapolis area. In 1967 they moved to Rochester where Margie worked at Rochester Jr. College and JC Penney. In 1975 they moved to St. Paul and she worked for the State of Minnesota in the Department of Transportation. Virgil passed away in February 1982. Marjorie remained in St. Paul until retiring in the early 1990's. She soon moved back to Cambridge and has been there since. She was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church. While living in the Twin Cities she was active in the New Brighton VFW and Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Skipbo, doing crossword puzzles, and she collected angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil Chilman, son Douglas Chilman, sister Lorraine Searles, brothers Donald and Delbert Meyer, and special friend Nathan Slater. Margie is survived by her children Diane and husband Allen Delzer of Sandstone, Eugene and wife Arlene Chilman of Dexter, MN, LeAnn and husband Bill Larsen of Seneca, SC, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, four sisters Harriet Storm of Hugo, June and husband Dave Stacy of Coon Rapids, Shirley and husband Warren Osby of Minneapolis, Karen and husband Dave Everetts of Duquette, MN, brother Kenneth Meyer of Kansas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
