Obituary of George Guzik
George C. Guzik, 82, of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born on October 18, 1930 to Frank and Frances Guzik in Minneapolis. Throughout school he played tennis and graduated from Eddison High School in 1947. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army on January 16, 1951 and was honorably discharged on May 1, 1952. George was awarded the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, an Occupation Medal, and a UN Service Medal.
On January 28, 1961 George married Patricia (Larson) Guzik at St. Boniface and resided in NE Minneapolis. During their years in Minneapolis they had five loving children. In 1974 they made their home in Cambridge and have lived in the same house since. For a short time George worked at Peterson and Berg where he was a wood planer. Later, he went to work at Honeywell where he became an inspector and retired in 1990 after 20+ years. After retirement he had a lot more time to enjoy many of his favorite hobbies, such as, tinkering with woodworking and wood lathing, watching military movies and shows, playing table tennis, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins.
George was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Frances Guzik; daughter Bridget Guzik; brothers Thaddeus and Roman; and sisters Renetta and Salome.
He is survived by his loving wife of Patricia Guzik of Cambridge; children Bernadette Guzik of Cambridge, Belinda Guzik of Coon Rapids, Paul (Nerissa) Guzik of Henderson, NV, Vincent (Jennifer) Guzik of Kindred, ND; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister Lucy Gage of Bellevue, WA; and sister-in-law Agnes Guzik of Roseville.
