Obituary of Leif Erickson

Leif Quentin Erickson, 88, of Harris passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Haven House in Cambridge. He was born on June 8, 1925 on the family farm in Fish Lake Township, Minnesota to John and Selma (Oman) Erickson. He grew up on the home farm and attended grade school at the Pine Lake Country School. His father died when Leif was 13 years old. Leif and his brothers took over the duties of the farm. He went on to graduate from Cambridge High School in 1943. On November 28, 1944 he entered the U.S. Army and served during WWII. He spent time in France, Denmark and Germany. Leif was honorably discharged on August 5, 1946. On April 2, 1949 he was united in marriage to Delores Lindell at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. They lived at the home farm with Leif's mother where they continued operating the dairy farm and raising their ten children. They continued farming until retiring and then rented the land to John Swanson who continues to farm the land still to this day. Leif was a member of the Harris American Legion Post #139. He enjoyed farming and was a hard worker throughout his life. Leif also like to work on and fix up old tractors. He made a trip to Sweden in 2004 and he always looked forward to the fall harvest season so he could watch John combine the crops from the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers John Warren, and Alton "Tony", two sisters Veona Erickson and Helen Kosloski, son-in-law Art Johnson. Leif is survived by his wife Delores of Harris, children Nancy (Ken) Evers of Cambridge, Curtis (Mary) Erickson of North Branch, Jerry (Rose) Erickson of Centuria, WI, Sheila Johnson of Apache Junction, AZ, Lois (Joel) Bazey of Isanti, Candace (Troy) Tuntland of Cape Canaveral, FL, Richard Erickson of Bradenton, FL, Blair (Annemarie) Erickson of Minnetonka, Lisa Erickson of Tucson, AZ, and Lori Erickson of Oakdale, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
