Obituary of Lyle Peterson
Lyle Daniel Peterson, 71, of Forest Lake, formerly of Henriette and Pine City passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake.
He was born on January 15, 1942 in Grasston, Minnesota to Russell and Rhoda (Beckstrom) Peterson. Growing up, he also attended the Henriette Free Methodist Church. Lyle attended grade school at the Henriette Country School and later Pine City Schools. After his schooling, Lyle worked on the farm with Paul Kent before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in October 1961. He served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in San Diego, CA and Okinawa, Japan. Lyle was honorably discharged in February 1966.
Following his military service, Lyle lived a short time in Minneapolis, working various jobs, before moving back to the Pine City area to work with area farmers. An accident 12 years ago left him unable to work and he later became a resident of Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake.
Lyle enjoyed cutting wood with the chainsaw, liked working on the farms, and loved animals - especially his sister Joyce's dog Fred. Even with all he had been through, Lyle kept his good sense of humor, was appreciative of everything, and always thought of others before himself.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bonnie Brown, and niece Roberta. Lyle is survived by his sisters Gloria Johnson of Forest Lake, Joyce and husband Ron Bowman of Stacy, Merna Mowry of Pine City, Janet and husband Don Carlson of White Bear Lake, brother Dale and wife Linda Peterson of Isanti, brother-in-law Jack Brown of Pine City, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends at Birchwood Health Care Center.
