Obituary of Sharon Engstrom
Sharon Louise Engstrom, 59, of Dalbo, Minnesota passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at her home surrounded by family after a courageous 4 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Sharon was born September 8, 1954 in McLaughlin, South Dakota to George and Delores (Hauck) Friez. Her parents moved the family to Glencross, South Dakota in 1956 and in 1959 they moved to Cambridge, Minnesota. In April 1960 her parents bought a home and farm just 2 miles north of Pine Brook where Sharon and her siblings grew up.
On November 25, 1972 Sharon was united in marriage to Craig Engstrom of Dalbo at The Salem Lutheran Church of Dalbo. Sharon and Craig made their home in Dalbo and raised their two daughters Tina and Lynn.
Sharon worked at Fingerhut in Princeton, MN for several years and also worked helping to care for an elderly lady for six years. Sharon also worked at the Bindery in Grandy and also when it moved to Cambridge until 2009 when she found out she had cancer and decided to spend the rest of her life being with her family. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandson and best buddy Jaxson, whom she loved dearly.
Sharon was the happiest person and nothing would ever get her down. She was the clown of the family and loved to be with her family. She loved shopping, playing bingo and going to the casino. She was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her. No one was ever turned away from her home if they were having a meal; it was "grab a plate there is plenty and eat with us." One of Sharon's wishes before she passed away was to be baptized. On the morning of November 17 she became a child of God by being baptized by Pastor Sarah Bunge.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father George in 2004; mother Delores in 2006; father-in-law Harold Engstrom in 1983; mother- in-law Ardis (Engstrom) Herman in 2013 and sister-in-law Denise Engstrom in 2011.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband Craig Engstrom of Dalbo; daughters Tina Engstrom and Lynn (Engstrom) Hoppe of Dalbo; her best buddy and grandson Jaxson Hoppe; brothers Clyde (Cheryl) Friez of Otsego and Randy (Vonnie) Friez of Cambridge; sisters Mary (Darold) Lundberg of Cambridge, Debbie (James) Dalen of Cambridge, Becky Friez of Stanchfield, Dorthy (Alan) Johnson of Rush City and Karen Hauger of Ogilvie; brother-in-laws Keith Engstrom of Dalbo and Scott Engstrom of Cambridge; many nieces and nephews; aunts Delila Buechler of McLaughlin, SD and Betty (Jim) Boatman of North Branch; uncle Monte (Delores) Hauck of McLaughlin, SD as well as many other relatives and friends.
Sharon's family would also like to thank friends and family for all that they did in helping take care of Sharon.
