Obituary of James Anderson
James E. Anderson, of Mora, died on February 27, 2008 at the VA Nursing Home in St.Cloud at the age of 72.
He was born on August 25, 1935 to George H. and Mabel E. (Johnson) Anderson in Stockholm, WI. He attended Maden Rock High School and then spent 4 years in the United States Air Force as a Jet Mechanic.
In 1958, Jim married Barb Olson, of Cambridge. They resided in the twin city area from 1959 to 1971 when they moved with their 3 sons, Allan, Ron and Greg to the Cambridge area, and there resided until the fall of 1998. Jim and Barb moved to Mora and spent the winter months in Arizona until it became too difficult for Jim to travel.
Jim worked as a Well Pump Repair Man and as a Millwright while in the cities. After moving to Cambridge, he started his own construction and remodeling business. During his last years in the Cambridge area he worked as the Road Maintenance Supervisor for Isanti Township. In his later years he liked to work with wood and enjoyed making wood crafts and small furniture for his family and friends.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He liked to fish, hunt, snowmobile, boat and camp with his family.
He was active in the community. Jim was Secretary of the Isanti County Fair Board, Isanti Township Supervisor, member of the Board of Adjustment and member of the Board of Directors for Industries, Inc. He was also a Snowmobile Safety Instructor for the State of Minnesota for 30 years and was instrumental in starting the Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club in the Cambridge area.
Jim loved his family and couldn't pass up the opportunity to help anyone who was in need.
Jim is survived by his wife Barb, of Mora; sons Allan of Cambridge, Ron (Lisa) of Lakeville, Greg of Isanti; mother Mabel Anderson of Eau Claire, WI; siblings Don (Pat) of WI, Ruth Johnson of WI, Delbert (Bonnie) of AZ, John (Mary) of WI, Ruby (Earl) Bergman of Maple Grove, MN, Norma (Gary) Wagner of Eden Prairie, MN; sister-in-law Jan Olson and special friend Bob Hamsmith of Mora, MN; brother-in-law Harlow Barb) Randall, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father; infant son Virgil Dean; brothers Russell and Vernon and sister Judy Gundlach.
