Obituary of David Evenson
David D. Evenson, 74, of Cambridge, formerly of Detroit Lakes passed away peacefully from the arms of his family on Monday, April 7, 2008.
He was born to Noris and Dora (Keil) Evenson on July 18, 1933 in Mora, Minnesota. He graduated from Mora High School in 1950. He entered the U.S. Army in June 1953 and was honorably discharged in May 1955.
On August 11, 1956 he was united in marriage to Janelle Krinke. They lived throughout Minnesota, first in Minneapolis, then Inver Grove Heights while David was employed at Swift's in South St. Paul. They moved to St. James in 1971 when David began working for the USDA. In 1973 they moved to Detroit Lakes and resided in the same home until 2006 when they moved to Cambridge.
David was an accomplished story teller and known for his tall tales. David loved anything to do with nature. He hunted and fished, made maple syrup, built his workshop and did woodworking from trees that were sawn from his property. He loved rocks: collecting, cutting, polishing and making jewelry. David loved big gardens and all that went with it, canning and freezing and in particular sharing his produce.
David is survived by his best friend and wife of 51 years, Janelle; daughter Cindy (Dawn), son Paul (Heidi), grandson Gary (Elizabeth) and great granddaughter Sheyenne; brothers, Noris (Sally); Richard (Mary); Vernon (Betty); brother-in-law Howard Sizer; Janelle's brothers and sister and their spouses; many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters; Doris Sizer; Dorothy Freeman; Billie Reed; Shirley Paulson.
