Obituary of Gerald Anderson

Gerald "Andy" M. Anderson, 83, of Cambridge, MN passed away surrounded by his family on October 12, 2011. He was born to Simon (Pete) and Ethyl Anderson in St. Francis, MN. Andy grew up in the St. Francis area and graduated from Anoka High School. In 1946 he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1948. In 1951, he married Jane Wyatt and they resided in Bethel where they raised their four children. He worked as a machinist at Federal Cartridge for 30 years after retiring in 1990. After retiring from Federal Cartridge he drove school bus for the Cambridge-Isanti School District for 10 years. He was also a volunteer driver for Riverwood Village of Cambridge up until 2009. Andy enjoyed bowling, going to People's Café and Herman's Bakery, playing dominoes, and spending summers in Grand Marais, MN. He was a dedicated loving family man in raising his children. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Andy was preceded in death by his wife Jane of 53 years, his parents, brothers, Ralph and Donald. He is survived by sons; Thomas (Sara) Anderson, Philip (Barbara) Anderson , Peter Anderson, and daughter; Patty (Pete) Semler, grandchildren; Jason (Jenny) Semler, Suzy (Troy) Jacobson, Mandy (Matt) Njos, and Josh (Melissa) Anderson, great grandchildren; Matthew, Colby, Mackenzie, Jacob, Jeanna, Katie, Joslyn, Joseph, Brayden and Carter, brother Harold Anderson of Hollywood, CA, sister Phyllis Anderson of Hollywood, CA, sister-in-law Lee Anderson of Cambridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the Elk River Hospice and Guardian Angels and to the Comfort Keeper of Blaine for their wonderful care and support.
