Obituary of Mardell Larson

Mardell Larson, 87, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Cambridge Health Care Center. She was born on July 24, 1920 in North Branch, Minnesota to Peter and Lydia (Blomberg) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Spring Lake Lutheran Church and grew up in the Spring Lake area. Mardell attended country school near Spring Lake and after her schooling would work in area homes doing various housework and cleaning. On June 4, 1941she was united in marriage to Joseph Leonard Larson at the Spring Lake Lutheran Church. Leonard and Mardell made their home in his parents' home where they cared for his mother until her passing. It was there that they spent nearly their entire married life while Leonard was a painter. In 1992 Leonard and Mardell became residents at the Cambridge Health Care Center and the farm was sold in the fall of 1992. Mardell was a lifelong active member of the Spring Lake Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Ladies Aid, Women's Circle, helped with the youth program, custodian and was active in serving at the KroppKakor dinners. She enjoyed music and served as church organist for many years, Mardell loved her vegetable and flower gardens, often bringing floral arrangements to her friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard in November 1996, brother Paul Johnson, sister Serona Bergstrom, and adopted sister Doris Peltier. Mardell is survived by her brother Allen and wife Ann LaVerne Johnson of Alexandria, sister-in-law Marlys Johnson of Alexandria, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
