Obituary of Lorna Baker
Lorna Jean Baker, 80, of Cambridge, formerly of East Bethel passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Grandview Christian Home after a short struggle with cancer.
She was born March 27, 1928 in Stanchfield Township, Minnesota to Leonard and Myrtle (Larson) Bismarck. Lorna grew up in the Stanchfield area and attended the Elm Park Country School and went on to graduate from Braham High School. After high school she worked at the Cambridge Launderers and Cleaners for a few years.
On January 7, 1950 she was united in marriage to Everett Baker at the Stanchfield Baptist Church. The couple made their home in East Bethel where Lorna continued to live until April 2004 when she moved to River Hills in Cambridge. In November 2007 she moved to Ashland Place and the past few weeks Lorna resided at the Grandview Christian Home.
While at River Hills, Lorna volunteered by delivering the paper to the other residents. When she was younger she enjoyed fishing and riding their Harley Davidson Motorcycle with her husband. She enjoyed crocheting, walking and riding bicycle. She was always sending cards to her friends and family and always had a gift for family members on their birthday. One of Lorna's most memorable events was the trip she made to Sweden in 1980 with her mother and cousin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband Everett.
Lorna is survived by her brother Wally and wife Lois Bismarck of Cambridge, nieces and nephews Bradley and wife Luana Bismark of Stanchfield, Deb Gerrety of Fridley, Julie and husband Steve Gustafson of Braham, Roxanne and husband Ron Emerick of Carlsbad, CA, Dan and wife Karla Bismarck of Big Lake, 14 great nieces and nephews and 15 great great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends.
