Obituary of Dolores Chilson

Dolores M. Chilson, 89, of Rush City passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Brask Haven Assisted Living. She was born on August 27, 1924 in Rome Township, Frost, Minnesota to Oscar and Hilda (Wester) Skaden. She grew up in Frost and graduated from Frost High School in 1942. She went on to attend Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter for one year and graduate from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. Dolores began working at the hospital in Blue Earth in 1950 and was Administrator and Director of Nursing from 1951 to 1963. She returned to school, attending the University of Washington in Seattle and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1965. She was united in marriage to Donald C. Chilson on May 14, 1966. She worked as director of nursing at St. Luke's Home in Blue Earth for seven years. They moved to Rush City, MN in March of 1973and Dolores worked as director of nursing at Memorial Hospital in Cambridge for ten years until retiring in 1983. She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Rush Point and volunteered with Family Pathways for five years. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Chilson, and nephew George Frandle. She is survived by her children Dick (Kay) Chilson of Woodbury, Don (Ruthanne) Chilson of Rush City, Carol (Bob) Grapevine of Blue Earth, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren Randy & Julie Chilson, Josh, Bryanne, Greyson, Chelsea. and Justin; Darrel & Dianna Hansen, Mike, Desiree, and Coby; Lynne Ritzer, Zach; Jeff & Tammy Chilson, Nickilas, Kailea, Cooper, Levi; Nate & Aylin, Tyler Chilson; Chris & Kari Eastvold, Karissa, Brandon, Brittany, and Johnny; Brenda Grapevine; Bruce Chilson & fiancée Dawn, Austin, and Allison; Brian & Karen Chilson, Nora, and Veronica;, sister Ardys Frandle of Frost, MN, brother Wesley Skaden of Blue Earth, niece Nancy Schonbom, nephews John & Carol Skaden, Dick & Shelley Skaden, Dave & Ann Skaden, Jim Skaden, and all their families. She also leaves behind her loving family of caregivers at Brask Haven: Rob, Jodi, Karissa, Katie and their wonderful staff. They took such good care of her and kept her with us the past six years. Thank God for all of you.
