Obituary of Elvera Medin
Elvera (Elvy) C. Medin of Cambridge passed away on March 27, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 20, 1926 to Axel and Marie Arvidson.
She attended school and worked in Chicago until she met Lawrence (Bud) Medin who was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base. Elvy and Bud married on June 7, 1947 at Cambridge Lutheran Church and raised their family on a farm east of Cambridge.
Elvy worked for 25 years as a secretary/receptionist at the Cambridge State Hospital. She was an original member and 60 year member of the Border Belles Homemakers. She folk danced for years as a member of the Dala Folk Dancers from Mora which performed as far away as Sweden and she also enjoyed square dancing. Travels included car and bus trips to many parts of the U.S. and a tour of Sweden and Norway.
Elvy is survived by her husband, Bud, son Robert Medin and wife Shirley Geib of Cambridge, daughter Janet Medin of Fridley, son Jerry Medin and fiancée Jennifer Tiemens of Cambridge, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Nothing was more important to Elvy than her family.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Florence Kerr of Boston, older sister Lillian Dibulak of Chicago, and parents Axel and Marie Arvidson of Cambridge.
