Obituary of Melvin Rosen
Melvin C. Rosen, 83, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
Melvin was born to Irvin and Ida (Meyer) Rosen on August 6, 1930. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Princeton.
On November 11, 1950 Melvin was married to Gloria Lundeen. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of North Branch where he served as Head Usher for over 16 years and as an Elder. He was proud of his roles in the church and did it faithfully. He read his Portals of Prayer and Bible each morning before he read the daily paper from beginning to end.
Gunsmoke and Bonanza on television were watched in his daily routine. Before farming full time he drove truck for Chester Erickson Lime Hauling and Buck Black Top. He enjoyed working with his Farmall tractors in the field and hauling grain to the city with his new Sterling truck. Farming was his life. Before getting sick he enjoyed visits to the Bakery with Dellis Sandquist to hear the news of the day.
Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister Lorraine Rice.
He is survived by his wife Gloria; Godsons Gus (Jenny) Fredrickson and Jake Fredrickson; two grandchildren Avery and Ava Fredrickson. Avery and Ava never left a visit without saying goodbye to him. Sister Lucille Foss of Melbourne, Florida and many nieces and nephews; special friends Hope and Tony Walker and their daughters Rachel, Missy and Sara; Rich and Kelly Hicks and their daughters Danielle and Erica.
