Obituary of Jane Mitchell
Jane A. Mitchell, 87, of Cambridge, formerly of Braham passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
She was born on September 1, 1926 in Isanti Township, Minnesota to Albin and Annie (Norin) Haselius. Jane grew up in Isanti where she attended grade school. After her schooling she moved to Minneapolis where she did factory work for a short time.
On February 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to John Norberg and they had three children, Danny, Deborah and Kevin. They lived in Isanti for a short time before moving Cambridge. They would eventually move to Braham. John was killed in a car accident in February 1957 and Jane was left with three young children, Danny age 9, Deborah age 5, and Kevin 6 months. Jane would later marry Walter Mitchell on November 21, 1959 at the Braham Lutheran Church Parsonage. They lived in Jane's home for a few years, and needed a larger home with three more children Steven, Judy and Douglas. In 1962 the family moved to a farm just out of Braham and raised their children. In 2001 Jane and Walter moved to Goldenwood and in October 2013 they moved to Riverwood Village.
Jane worked as a waitress at the Park Café, sold Avon, and also worked at People Pack-It. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing, bowling, shaking dice and yodeling. She and John used to sing on the radio. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Jane and Walter enjoyed traveling in their RV and spent 10 winters in Yuma, Arizona. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Red Hats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Norberg, sisters Marion Stolt and Ardis Brague, grandson Jeremy Norberg and daughter-in-law Roberta Norberg. Jane is survived by her husband Walter of Cambridge, children Danny (Denise) Norberg of Onamia, Deborah (Terrance) Cox of Cambridge, Kevin Norberg of Cambridge, Steven (Kathie) Mitchell of Harris, Judy (Gary) Gall of Stanchfield, Douglas Mitchell of Burlingame, CA, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, sister Fern Lindquist of Cambridge, brother Warren Haselius of Isanti
