Obituary of Herbert Weidendorf
Herbert Elmer Weidendorf of Cambridge, MN, passed away at home with family by his side on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the age of 81.
Herbert was born on September 3, 1932 in Mora, MN to parents Elmer and Elvena (Ringler) Weidendorf. He attended the Quamba school. In 1950 he joined the Air Force and was in the 530th Materiel Squadron in the Korean War. He was enlisted for four years. He received several service medals including Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge, he started courting Edythe Bergerson, the two fell in love and were married on June 16th, 1956. To this union four children were born: Daniel, Darwin, Douglas, and Lisa.
They made Cottage Grove their home while Herbert worked at Maxon Corporation. In 1970 they moved to Cambridge and resided on a farmstead where he raised pigs and milk cows. He loved the farm life, enjoyed going to auctions, and never missed dessert. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was such a hard worker and a well-liked person by all. He's a man who loved his family unconditionally, enjoyed his grandchildren, and loved holding his wife's hand. Herbert was a simple man and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Herbert was preceded in death by his sister Grace, brother Oscar, parents Elmer and Elvena, grandparents Henry and Sophia & John and Amelia.
He is survived by his wife Edythe, children Daniel Weidendorf of Cambridge, Darwin (Cora) Weidendorf of Rush City, Douglas (Kris) Weidendorf of Cambridge, and Lisa (Kahled) Zoghbor of Texas; grandchildren Zainab, Hanna, & Asim Zoghbor of Texas, Alan & Angeleah Weidendorf of Rush City, and Kayleigh & Lindsey Weidendorf of Cambridge; brothers Glenn (Joyce) Weidendorf of Harris, Dean (Sue) Weidendorf of Braham, Donald (Linda) Weidendorf of Mora, David (Audrey) Weidendorf, George (Char) Weidendorf of Mora, Bob (Bobbie Jo) Weidendorf of Illinois.
