Obituary of Gordon Stamm
Gordon Reuben Stamm, 88, of Isanti passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home.
He was born May 19, 1926 in Oxford Township, Minnesota to Charlie and Martha (Onasch) Stamm. Gordon grew up in Oxford Township and attended country school at District #43. After his schooling he worked on the family farm. In August 1950 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Texas until April 1951 when he was moved to Japan. Gordon was stationed in Japan for 16 months and was honorably discharged in August 1952. Upon returning home he began working at the Minnesota Linseed Plant. In April 1953 he began working at the Ford plant in St. Paul, and retired from there in 1988 after 35 years.
On June 11, 1955 he was united in marriage to Lucille Nylander at the Glendon and Irma Hanson home. They lived a short time in an apartment in Minneapolis before moving to North Branch. They moved to Isanti next to Elim Baptist Church and in 1967 bought the home they have since lived.
Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and gardening. He was a very hard worker his entire life and took pride in everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Luann Maureen, infant son, grandson Eric Weibler, brothers Roy, Lloyd, Karl and Henry, and sister Emmy Peterson. Gordon is survived by his wife Lucille, daughters Laura (Dave) Weibler of Overbrook, KS, Cheryn Stamm of Isanti, Connie (Steve) Bates of Princeton, Julie (Dean) Peterson of Cambridge, son Dave (Carol) Stamm of Cambridge, 12 grandchildren Melissa, Kali, Joe, Hannah, Tyler, David, Emily, Kelsey, Rosalie, Jadon, Cadin and Addison, great granddaughter Marianna, sister Lillian Freeman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the staff at Allina Hospice and also to Gordon and Lucille's wonderful neighbors Tad Hitchings, Christina Clark and Kathleen Mattson.
