Obituary of Joan Miller

Joan P. Miller, 79, of Circle Pines passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2014. Joan lived a life of kindness and gentleness. She faced life and all its difficulties with a sense of humor ("You are unique, just like everyone else.") and faith in God. Quick to laugh, quick to forgive, she loved God. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She raised three boys and a girl as a single mom - no easy feat. It meant paying all the bills, cooking the meals, and dealing with toads, snakes, and muskrats that "just followed us home". She was smart - she went back to college as a single mother and graduated from the University of Minnesota with Honors. She was always humble and never used her intelligence to impress or degrade others (beat up on people). Rather, as a teacher, she helped many. She loved music and all things creative. Joan will be missed. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Adell May. She is survived by her brother Gene (Ramona), four children - Stephen (Laura), Daniel (Nancy), Mark (Rita) and Pam and 14 grandchildren.
