Helen was a very special woman to our family and to me. I remember how beautifully she could play the piano. She taught me how to sew doll clothing and how to knit fancy dresses and sweaters, teaching me how to "knit in a circle," with the tiniest steel knitting needles. I still have those today. I remember when our Mother was diagnosed with heart disease in her early 40's. Helen would quietly place bottles of vitamins in our mailbox for her to take. Mom lived to be 85 -- and we know those vitamins were instrumental in bringing healing to her body.
I will always remember Helen for her tall figure and robust health. It was through her that I first learned of yogurt, and that was long before people were talking about this health food. She and Karl had a German Shepherd named "Dondi"- and that is the only part of visiting her that I did not like! She was kind-hearted, generous with her time, and always loving towards our family. We will always remember and love her for the kindnesses she showed us.
No matter how many years pass, I know it is always "too soon" to lose our parent and grandparent. Prayers and thoughts for the family as you continue to remember Helen and the legacy she left behind.
