Obituary of Thomas Biggins
Thomas (Tunny) Franklin Biggins Sr., age 87, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing East.
He was born on August 3, 1927 in Braham, MN to Edwin and Hilda (Pearson) Biggins. He grew up on the farm and went into the military, Army division, on October 24, 1950, and was in the Korean War where he served on active duty until July 24, 1952. He received an honorable discharge on August 8, 1956. While serving in the military he obtained the rank of Master Sergeant.
On August 3, 1954 he married Marlene Marian Johnston. To this union three children were born: Thomas, Jerry, and Wendy.
After the service he was employed at the Isanti County Coop for 9 years, followed by 37 years working construction at Jesco, Inc., while farming on the side which continued after retirement.
Thomas is survived by his wife Marlene of Cambridge, which the couple just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; sons Thomas (Jean) Biggins, Jerry Biggins, Wendy (Gregory) Johnson all of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Alecia Hanson, Amanda Wilson, Ryan Biggins, Kayelyn McDonald, and Braden Johnson; four great grandchildren, Kole, Brekkin, Ganon, and Brenley; one brother, Bill Biggins of Isanti, sister-in-laws Donna Biggins of Stanchfield and Julie Christensen of Mora, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Verdie, Allen, Edsel, Ennis, and Blanchford, and sisters Ila, Audrey, and Marilyn.
