Obituary of Dorothy Stomberg
Dorothy Rose Stomberg, 86, died as she lived, beside her husband Henry on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge, MN.
Dorothy was born on January 5th, 1922 in Duluth, MN to Fred and Olga (Rose) Pflueger. She graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1940. On January 16, 1938 she attended a youth group at the First Methodist Church in Duluth where Hank asked her for ice cream and a movie, and the rest is history. The couple was married in that chapel on February 20, 1943 and had not been apart until this past Sunday. They resided in Duluth, MN, Chicago IL where she worked as a librarian, Des Plaines, Crystal, MN where they bought their first home, and Cambridge, MN.
Dorothy worked for Honeywell for 15 years on the assembly line and retired on March 31, 1981. After retirement, Dorothy and Hank spent their winters in Weslaco, TX. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, time with family and friends, going to the casino, and especially those great-grand babies.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lloyd Pflueger.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Henry G. Stomberg of Cambridge, daughters Susan Popovich of Gardner, KS, and Carol Stomberg of Cedar, grandchildren Celina (Bryan, Rebekah) Huffman of Gardner, KS, and Chris Popovich of Grandby, CO, great-grandaughters, Makayla and Allyson and children in her heart, Ann Dallager and Dale Popovich.
