Obituary of Delorn Lakeberg

Delorn Alton Lakeberg, 82, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born August 20, 1925 in Cambridge Township, Minnesota to Alfred and Mae (Anderson) Lakeberg. He attended grade school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. In December 1944 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in November 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. Upon returning from the military, Delorn moved to St. Louis Park. On July 3, 1948 Delorn was united in marriage to Lorraine "Lolly" Widell at the Lutheran Church in North Branch. The couple made their home in St. Louis Park for 40 years where they raised their two children Vickie and Scott. Delorn worked for Minnegasco for many years and after retiring he and Lolly moved back to Cambridge. He enjoyed the years he spent coaching a little league team that his son Scott played on while in St. Louis Park. Delorn loved pro football, fishing and hunting in his younger years. He was a member of the Fish Lake Lutheran Church and the St. Louis Park VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Mae Lakeberg, sisters Bernice Anderson and Willette Gonzalez. Delorn is survived by his wife Lolly of Cambridge, daughter Vickie and husband Jim LaNore of Stanchfield, son Scott and wife Dorothy Lakeberg of Stanchfield, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Andrea Lakeberg of Stanchfield and her children Nevaeh, Camella and Reese Lakeberg; Ashley Lakeberg, of Stanchfield; Justin and wife Kelle LaNore of Cambridge and their children Kyle and Abby LaNore; Zachary and wife Lindsay LaNore of Roseville and their daughter Avery LaNore, as well as many other relatives and friends.
