Obituary of Eleanore Johnson
Eleanore (Erickson) Johnson died peacefully on Sept 10, 2014 at the age of 91.
She was born on March 10, 1923 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Swedish immigrant descendants, she was the middle child with an older sister and younger brother. She loved to play stick ball, had a dog named Raggs and was a member of the church children's choir. After high school, she went to work as a secretary for a medical clinic in Minneapolis and shared an apartment with her sister. While there she met and married her husband, Clarence "Bing" Johnson and for their honeymoon they moved to Southern California where he had gotten a job with the Division of Highways. They had one daughter, Adele. Eleanore continued to work as a medical secretary until she retired in 1985 and moved to Reno to be near her daughter, son-in-law and grandson. In later years, she moved with her daughter to Nevada, Missouri and, most recently, Virginia. Eleanore made many dear friends every place that she lived and she will be missed very much.
Eleanore was a devout Christian and had a beautiful soprano singing voice. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She loved to garden, feed the birds and bake delicious cookies and pies. She also loved to travel and saw much of the US as well as the Virgin Islands, France, Spain, South Africa and Israel.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Adele and Jim Coleman, grandson Cecil "Chuck" McCumber III, sister-in-law Mary Erickson and numerous nieces, nephews and their extended families.
