Obituary of Bennie DeGreeff
Bennie James DeGreeff, age 56, of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. Bennie was born in Pipestone, MN to James and Betty DeGreeff on March 8, 1958. When he was 3 1/2, they moved to Loman, MN and then to Tracy, MN at age five. In 1970 the family moved to Isanti where Ben attended and graduated from the Cambridge High School and worked at the State Hospital in Cambridge. Bennie went on to work at the junkyard in Pine City, MN and attended Pine Tech for welding. He joined the Boilmakers Union Local 647. On November 19, 1977 Bennie married Julie Molohon. To this union a son, Adam was born in January of 1978, and a daughter Laura in April of 1979. Ben loved fishing, watching football, spoiling his grandkids, and being with family. He was very knowledgeable about anything mechanical and always had a great time hunting deer with his sister Teresa and her boys Justin and Josh, even if he didn't get many. Bennie loved helping others and was selfless with his time and talents.
He is preceded in death by his wife Julie, father James, and brother Alan. Bennie is survived by his son Adam DeGreeff of Isanti, daughter Laura (Micah) Byers of Ham Lake, five grandchildren, mother Betty DeGreeff of Center City, sisters Kathy (Milt) Parker of North Branch, Donna (Dave) Higgins of Center City, Leslie (John) Dravis of Stanchfield, Teresa (Kevin) Reitz of Menomonie, WI, Jennifer DeGreeff (Steve Plante) of Albuquerque, NM.
