Obituary of Shirley Apollo

Shirley Jean (Swanson) Apollo, 63, of Andover, MN, went to her heavenly home on Monday, October 6, 2014 at her home. She was born September 30, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to Willard and Vivian Swanson (Backman). While growing up, Shirley and her family resided in Spring Lake Park, Tracy, New Brighton, and Grandy, MN. Shirley was baptized as an infant and confirmed at the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush Point, MN. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1970 and continued her education at the University of Minnesota, earning a bachelor's degree. Shirley was employed at ATK Federal Cartridge Company for 41 years was still employed there upon her passing. She has been an entrepreneur, owning and operating rental property. The home in which Shirley resided was one she designed and also assisted her father in building. Shirley had a kind and gentle spirit. She enjoyed self-expression and creativity through glass blowing, stained glass, tie-dying, and many other crafts. Reading was enjoyable to her as well as looking forward to working on genealogy. She is preceded in death by her mother Vivian and father Willard. Shirley is survived by her sisters Audrey (Phillip) Tromsness of Northfield, MN and Diane (Thomas) Wetther of Princeton, MN, many nieces and nephews, special friend Juanita Snetsinger and her family, as well as other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by many.
