Obituary of Harlan Bergloff
Harlan John Bergloff of Cambridge died on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East in Cambridge at the age of 96.
He was born February 1, 1915 in Williams County, North Dakota to Emil and Jennie (Johnson) Bergloff. He started school in North Dakota. In 1925, he moved to west Cambridge where he continued school at Pine Brook. Harlan graduated from Cambridge High School in 1935 and went on to attend Dunwoody Institute.
On April 26, 1941, he was united in marriage to Katherine Anna Moody. After several moves, they settled on Harlan's family farm on Spectacle Lake in 1947. It was there that they raised their four sons.
Harlan farmed for many years; he worked on the Alcan Highway in Canada and also the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant.
Harlan enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Peter Swenson, wife Katherine, son Clark, sister Roberta Erickson and her husband Bennett Erickson.
He is survived by his sons Douglas (Marilyn) Bergloff of Cambridge, Lowell (Eleanor) Bergloff of Cambridge, Scott (Maia) Bergloff of Northome, daughter-in-law Gayle Bergloff of Mora, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 nieces.
