I met Douglas when he and Joyce came out to visit my grandparents, Bob and Dorothy, in Steilacoom, WA. I think the first time was the summer after my mom died, when I was 11. We all went to places like Mt. Rainier, but mostly I remember long hours in the kitchen, listening to stories of Cambridge and their kids and all the old aunties "back home." You wouldn't think I would have cared at that age, but I did, and I have warm and fond memories of those visits. I am shocked and saddened by Douglas's sudden passing, and send my love across the miles to all his wonderful family.

Doug was always amazing to me! I have so many fond memories of time spent together. Even the job of helping putting up Christmas lights that was handed down to me was enjoyable with Doug. Thanks Doug for being an amazing example for me to follow.

I was so sorry when my sister called and told me it was on that Doug had passed away. We could hardly believe it. We got together a few years ago and had a wonderful time. We were cousins over 70 years and then I called him about the cematary which out grandparents were buried,we met him and his wife to eat before we went out there. We had a great time, took pictures, and talked about our family and all who had died. We saw them a few times later and enjoyed every minute we were together. I was sure we had a lot of time for many more visits. I am so sorry he is gone, I am so sorry for Joyce and the kids.

Joyce and Family, So sorry to hear of Doug's sudden passing. I am so glad I got to visit with him at our annual class get together in Oct. He had just lost his Mom that morning. He was such a great friend and I know you two had a wonderful life together. He was a great Dad following his kids in all their sports activites. He loved his trips to Alaska to visit the boys. I first met Doug when I started working for Consolidated Freightways. Paul Bostrom, Me and Doug used to ride to work together in 1966. After that Doug had a Triumph motorcycle that sold to me for my first Cycle. Guess Joyce had something to say about that. Fast forward 30 years, then we hooked up as Bus drivers for Cambridge school Dist. Then a few years later they found there way to Texas also where we winter in the warm weather! Anyway Joyce sure going to miss him. God Bless!!

Douglas, Douglas, Douglas. My heart is broken. You were such a dear friend and I am lucky to have met you five years ago at the bus garage. I will miss your hugs and our conversations about life. What a shock to hear the passing of Doug. I still can't believe it. What a great guy, nothing but good ever came from his mouth. He will be missed by many.
