Obituary of Bion Babb
Bion H. Babb of Princeton passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital at the age of 80.
He was born on February 21, 1934 in Dodge Center, MN to John and Maud (Martin) Babb. Bion lived on the family farm until the age of ten when the family moved to Walbo. He attended country school in Springvale.
On August 31, 1952 he was united in marriage to Bernice Peters in Dodge Center. They first lived in St. Paul and after a year moved to Spencer Brook. They lived with Bernice's parents until they purchased their own home, next door, and had eight children.
Bion worked at Superior Packing Plant in St. Paul for a few years before working construction at L.T. Ernst for several years. He retired from there in 1989.
He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, many other outdoor activities and riding his four wheeler around taking care of the animals including deer, birds and chickens. Bion was one of the original members of the Mystic Riders Snowmobile Club and helped to build and maintain many of the snowmobile trails. He also enjoyed helping his kids and grandkids work on their demolition derby cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Melvin Jesse Babb, grandson Michael Jeffrey Babb Jr., daughter-in-law Bridget Babb, brothers Wesley and Roy, sisters Marian Dewalt and Mary Floren.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Bernice, children Myron (Deborah) Babb of Miami, OK, Kathy (Jim) LaPoint of Isanti, Martin Babb of Dalbo, Mike Babb of Cambridge, Karen Kramer of Onamia, Kristine Rattcliff of Seneca Falls, NY, Marvin Babb of Salem, OR, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
