Obituary of Verona Lindeen
Verona S. Lindeen of Cambridge passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West at the age of 96.
She was born on March 17, 1918 in Benld, IL to George and Anna Saloka. The family would move to the Hinckley area where Verona attended country school.
On June 16, 1938 she was united in marriage to Arnold Lindeen at First Lutheran Church in Hinckley. They would live on his family farm for a number of years and raise their three children Duane, Richard and Anne. In 1969 they built a home in Cambridge. Verona worked in Housekeeping at the Cambridge State Hospital, retiring from there in 1985.
Verona was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church, was involved with the Cambridge Senior Activity Center and volunteered at the Shalom Shop. She enjoyed needlepoint and other crafting, working on crossword puzzles and playing bingo. She and Arnold enjoyed traveling and fishing in their retirement years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold, brothers George, John, Mike, Andrew and Albert Saloka, sisters Anne Weirick, Mary Heuer, Susan Brennan and Margaret Johnson, daughter-in-law Diane Lindeen.
Verona is survived by her sons Duane (Connie) Lindeen of Burnsville, Richard (Ann) Lindeen of Andover, daughter Anne Lindeen of Foster City, CA, four grandchildren Debra (Jon) Reischl of St. Paul, Donna (Ryan) Harrington of Cannon Falls, John (Tammee) Lindeen of Elk River, Timothy (Stef) Lindeen of Alameda, CA, seven great grandchildren, sister Pauline (Allan) Hassinger of Apple Valley, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services 1PM, Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Dell Grove Cemetery near Sandstone.
