Obituary of Ronald Tewalt
Ronald Everett Tewalt, 66, of Isanti passed away on Thursday, August 07, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 18, 1941 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Everett and Doriene (Stellrecht) Tewalt. Ron grew up in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. He attended the West Sarona Country School and graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1958. After high school he worked for a short time in construction. In February 1964 he entered the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from active duty in January 1966. Ron continued serving in Army Reserves through February 1970. After his active duty service he attended Brown Institute and received a degree in electronics and would become employed at Control Data where he worked for a few years.
On July 5, 1968 he was united in marriage to Patricia Nichols in Taylors Falls, Minnesota. They made their home in South Minneapolis before moving to Columbia Heights. While in Columbia Heights their two children Stacy and Will were born. In 1978 they built a home in rural Isanti where they have since lived. After a few years at Control Data Ron began driving truck for a construction company and would later purchase his own truck and start his own trucking business. He was an owner operator for several years, retiring in 2002.
Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being outdoors, he loved his horse and his dogs; especially Liberty, and he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Cambridge American Legion, the NRA and Long Lake Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Doriene Tewalt, brothers Roy and Ripley Tewalt, and stepfather Don Carlson.
Ron is survived by his wife Pat of Isanti, daughter Stacy and husband Tim Storm of Isanti, son Will and wife Allyssa Tewalt of Princeton, three grandchildren Breanna Tewalt, Emily Storm and Zachary Storm, step-mother Marion Tewalt of Boise, Idaho, step-brother Gary and wife Linda Tewalt of Boise, Idaho as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
