Obituary of Grant Blomster
Grant Blomster, 89, of Cambridge died on Monday, August 18, 2008 at his home in River Hills.
Grant Kenneth Eugene Blomster was born to Lars Albin and Hilda (Swenson) Blomster at their home on Horseshoe Lake near Stark on September 9, 1918. He attended country school and graduated from the Reed School after the eighth grade. Grant lived and worked on the family farm until he married Frances Norling on September 7, 1940 at the North Isanti Baptist Church parsonage. The couple moved into his Uncle John's farmstead across the field from his home place. They farmed and raised their two children Galen and Sharolyn and would remain there until retiring and selling the farm in August 2000. They have lived at River Hills in Cambridge since then. Frances passed away a little less than a month ago on July 25, 2008.
Grant was a lifelong member of the Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark, serving on the church council, Lutheran Brotherhood and many other positions in the church. He also served on the Reed School Board and as a clerk for the Fish Lake Township for over 25 years.
Grant loved to hunt, fish, trap and play horseshoes. He especially enjoyed farming the land, which was his life. He was very observant, was very skilled mechanically and could figure out anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances, brother Russel Blomster and sister Marion Pearson, and son-in-law Steve Peterson.
Grant is survived by his son Galen Blomster and wife Linda Barbeau of Crystal, daughter Sharolyn Peterson of Spicer, five grandchildren Robert and wife Julie Blomster, Mark and wife Adriana Blomster, David Blomster, Drew Peterson and Stephanie Peterson, three great grandchildren Grant, Carter and Tess Blomster, as well as other relatives and friends.
