Obituary of Leona Davis
Leona S. Davis, 87, of Cambridge died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at North Memorial Medical Center.
She was born on September 25, 1924 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Henry and Dora (Zimmer) Mahler. Leona grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. After she graduated, Leona worked for a few years at the high school.
On April 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Elmer Davis in Fergus Falls. They lived in several areas and eventually made their home in Deer River. They lived for a time in Cedar and in 1998 they moved to Cambridge and would remain there.
Leona worked several years at Federal Cartridge from which she would retire. She enjoyed golfing, and gardening, and in her younger years was involved in the PTA. More recently she and her daughter Betty delivered the newspaper in the Cambridge and Isanti areas which was something Leona did to keep herself active.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Elmer in February 2005. She is survived by her children Mike and wife Myra Davis of Oak Grove, Patrick and wife Shirley Davis of Stacy, Betty Lastavica of Cambridge, Tony and wife Kathryn Davis of Houston, TX, Richard Davis of Monticello, 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sisters Louise Erickson of Shelbyville, IN, Marjorie and husband Robert Eastwood of Underwood, brother Marvin Mahler of Fergus Falls, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
