Obituary of Leonard Betzold

Leonard P. Betzold, 84, of Cambridge, passed away September 2, 2008 at Grandview Christian Home. Leonard was born on July 9, 1924 in Minneapolis. His parents were John Frederick Betzold and Henrietta (Note). Leonard grew up in Minneapolis and attended North High School. He entered the Navy in 1941 sailing on the USS Colorado in the South Pacific, until discharged in 1945, after being awarded numerous medals. He began his career repairing cars and then worked at Zephyr Sales and Service repairing televisions. Leonard married Delores Landsteiner on Feb. 23, 1946. They made their home in Minneapolis, moved to Brooklyn Center in 1956, and then Green Lake near Princeton in 1976. McAllen Texas was their winter home after retirement. Leonard moved to Braham in 2003 and resided at Grandview Christian Home from 2006 until the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores, and three siblings Dorothy Krueger, Marie Bernhardt, and Donald Betzold. Leonard is survived by three children; Jim (Wendy) of Corcoran, Larry (Sue) of Columbia Heights, and Karyn (Don) of Isanti; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one sister Verna Hoffman of Donna, Texas.
