Obituary of John Joy
John Walter Joy, 92, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, September 26, 2008 at Grace Pointe Crossing �" Grandview Christian Home.
He was born on February 11, 1916 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert and Emma (Oslie) Joy. After his schooling John entered the United States Navy in June 1942. He was Honorably Discharged in August 1946.
He married Pearl Danielson and they raised their two daughters Judy and Marilyn.
John worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for many years and after his retirement, he and Pearl owned and operated the A&W Drive Inn at Dodge Center, MN for eight years.
Traveling in the winter months was their ultimate enjoyment as John and Pearl visited many friends and family and experienced new travel adventures. After the sale of the A&W they moved into The Towers in Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pearl in February 2006, and sister Anne Louise Carlson.
John is survived by his two daughters Judy and husband Peter Young of San Pedro, CA, Marilyn and husband Dennis Vermeer of Mora, eight grandchildren, nine grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
