Obituary of Walter Siems

Walter Robert Siems, Jr., 87, of Cambridge died October 9, 2008 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. He was born on March 19, 1921 to Walter, Sr. and Stella Siems in Thief River Falls, MN. He attended school and graduated from Williams, MN. Walt was a graduate of the University of North Dakota. During WWII he served in the Navy aboard a sonar submarine until he was honorably discharged. On June 12, 1959 Walt married Betty J. Moore and they lived together in Baudette, MN. Walt was the Office Manager at North Star Electric Company in Baudette for many years and later the General Manager from 1974-1977. Upon moving to Cambridge in 1977, he was an accountant for several companies including People's Bank of Commerce where he later retired. Walt was a great fan of hockey which he played while growing up. He also enjoyed curling and golf which he continued to do after moving to Cambridge. Walt served on the City Council of Baudette for many years as well as being active in church and serving on many committees. Walt is survived by his loving wife, Betty Siems; son Donald (Judy) Siems of Forest Lake, MN and their children Daniel, Dustene, Michael and Noah Siems; daughter Cynthia Schulz of Cambridge, MN; and her children Jason (Danelle), Jordan and JoAna Schulz; and 3 great grandchildren; Triston, Preston and Ashton Schulz; sister Marilyn (Jack) Northcott of Cowiche, WA; brothers Robert (Dorie) Siems of Bemidji, MN; Jim (Joyce) Siems of Williams, MN. Walt was preceded in death by his parents and infant children Suan Marie and Walter Robert, III.
