Obituary of Franklin Dike
Franklin Randall Dike, 81 of Cambridge, passed away on October 10 in Minneapolis after a brief illness. Frank was born in New Haven, VT on December 17, 1926, and was the 13th of 16 children born to Luther Dike and Bertha Strong. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings, one grandson, Kyle Franklin Dike, and one granddaughter, Kristin Corrine Meanor.
Frank was a member of the United States Navy Seabee's, and served proudly in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was also a member of the Legion Post 139 in Harris, MN. He was a member of the 49er's and worked as a heavy equipment operator and as an over-the-road truck driver.
Frank was an avid golfer and loved to get a game in whenever he could. He also enjoyed the outdoors, having enjoyed many special times on his boat and at his cabin in McGregor, MN. Frank and his wife Ruby spent winters traveling in their motor home for many years, only to eventually sell the motor home and they finally settled in a winter hacienda in Mercedes, Texas. He had a great fondness for animals - especially his cats, sports - he would never miss a Twins or Vikings game, cookies, peanuts, and he always had a sweet tooth.
Frank was a faithful member of Fish Lake Lutheran Church and was know for his willingness to lend a helping hand at any project where his talents were needed. He enjoyed the fellowship and many special friends that he met at church. He also supported many charitable organizations.
Frank is survived by his wife Ruby, sons, Randall Dike in Waupaca, WI, Jeffery Dike, Denver, CO, daughters, Theresa Meanor and Robin Dike, Denver, CO and Kelley Green, Menasha, WI and stepsons, Robert Fredrickson, Boy River, MN, Bruce Fredrickson (Phyllis), St. Peter, MN, and Brian Fredrickson (Melissa), Remer, MN. Frank is also survived by 29 grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as four sisters and one brother. Friendship was a corner stone of Franks life and he is also survived by the many, many friends he made through all of his travels as well as the many places that he lived and the organizations that he was a part of and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
