Obituary of Elna Baxter

Elna Marie Elaine (Sawicki) Baxter, 81, of Forest Lake passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at GracePointe Crossing West. She was born December 2, 1926 in Edgeley, North Dakota to Frank Sr. and Elsie (Marschke) Kast. When Elna was a child the family moved to the Twin Cities which is where she grew up. She got married and they raised their family in St. Paul and Circle Pines. Elna worked as a waitress and cook at several different restaurants in the Twin Cities area for several years and retired at age 70. After retiring she moved to Forest Lake. In 1961 Elna was Queen For A Day at the Minneapolis Aquatennial. She was a kind and loving person. Elna was a lifelong member of the American Legion and VFW, she enjoyed traveling, listening to country music, watching the Minnesota Twins, fishing, and always had food for friends and family whenever they visited her. She especially loved spending time with family and friends. We will miss you dearly, Ma. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, sons Tom and John Sawicki, daughter Roxanne Sawicki, step son Rondell Baxter, grandson John Sawicki, son-in-law David Juckel Sr., brother Fred Kast and sister Beverly Wolters. Elna is survived by her children Estelle Juckel of Cambridge, Rose and husband Doug Workman of Champlin, Rick and wife Shelly Sawicki of Little Canada, Deb and husband Roger Johnson of South Dakota, Mike and wife Lorraine Sawicki of Colorado, Norma and husband Larry Sharp of Illinois, Cathy and husband Andy Bouley of Princeton, 25 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, sister Dorothy Switila of Circle Pines, brothers Doc and wife Alice Kast of Circle Pines, Frank Kast of California, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
