Obituary of Alice Usher

Alice Marie Usher, 89, of East Bethel passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at her home at Shady Oaks home care. She was born March 13, 1919 in Ham Lake, Minnesota to Albert and Jenny (Warp) McKay. Alice was baptized and confirmed at Glen Cary Lutheran Church. She grew up in the Ham Lake area where she attended country school. After her schooling she worked at home and later at the Ammunition plant during World War II. On November 10, 1945 she was united in marriage to Wayve Usher at Glen Cary Lutheran Church. They lived in Ham Lake and Blaine for a few years before buying their home on 80 acres in East Bethel where they raised their nine children. Wayve passed away on April 10, 1973. After Wayve passed away Alice later worked at the St. Francis schools in the kitchen for over 10 years. Alice remained at home until she moved to River Hills where she lived a short time. She also resided at Grandview Christian Home a short time before moving to Shady Oaks where she had lived the last four years. Alice was a lifelong member of Glen Cary Lutheran Church; she was active in the Helping Hand Club for many years. She enjoyed doing embroidery, crocheting, and was an excellent cook and baker. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayve, daughter Darlene Usher in April 1993, and granddaughter Jill Usher in February 2002. Alice is survived by her children Ronald and wife Luann Usher of Stacy, Marlys and husband Jim Heckenlaible of East Bethel, Shirley and husband Ken Amdahl of St. Francis, Janice and husband Tom Sylvester of Isanti, Myrtice and husband Jerry Thunstrom of Nevis, Myron and wife Karen Usher of Isanti, Roger and wife Connie Usher of Foxboro, WI, Herb and wife Jamie Usher of Isanti, 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, brother Jack and wife Armella McKay of St. Petersburg, FL, as well as other relatives and friends.
