Obituary of Vernon Pearson
Vernon L. Pearson, 82, of Cambridge, passed away December 20th, 2008 at United Hospital after a two month battle of brain infection.
Vernon was born December 13th, 1926 in Chisago County to Lillian and Albin Pearson. His family moved to Cambridge, two weeks after he was born, where the farmstead still remains. On September 13, 1947, he married Laura Norberg and they began to make their way into farming. He spent the majority of his life farming, starting at an early age helping his father.
Vernon enjoyed a life of fishing, hunting and gardening. He was always growing something; from blueberries to apples and potatoes to corn. When he wasn't home farming, he spent most of this time at his summer cabin on Little Splithand Lake in Grand Rapids, MN. He loved having the freedom to fish everyday. He and Laura met many friends that they enjoyed spending summer after summer with.
Vernon was a jack of all trades. If he didn't have it or couldn't find it, he created a new one; whether it existed previously or not. Some of his most notable creations were the dollhouses for his girls, his birdhouses, his handmade fishing decoys, furniture and his blueberry picker. He loved to tinker, build and create.
Vernon will be remembered for his love for his family, his witty sense of humor, his sweet tooth and his love for babies. He made sure he took extra time for the little kids. He kept us laughing, even in his last hours. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Laura of Cambridge; His son Kenny (Cherie) Pearson of Forest Lake; Daughter's Karen Pearson of Cambridge, Cyndee (Steve) Maas of Cambridge; Sharon (Holland) Groves of Cambridge; and Son Greg (Sherry) Pearson of Cambridge; and honorary daughter Shari Wilcox; his grandchildren Shayna Kazimer, Michelle (Jeremey) King, Melissa (Allen) Goldsmith, Dan Maas, Rachel Maas, Jen Groves, Kyle Groves, Brett Groves, Samantha Pearson, Jessie Pearson and Cole Pearson and 5 great-grandchildren Andre Banks, Aaliyah Kazimer, Logan Goldsmith, Kjirstin Goldsmith and Gabe King. He was preceded in death by his parents Albin and Lillian Pearson, and sisters Vallie Sandquist, Lindore Hanson and Emogene Anderson.
